ICILS Project Team at Conferences
Dr. Patrick Paschke and Erik Grützner will participate in the conference “Youth in a Digital Society” (Conference “Youth in a Digital Society” – Events – Research Focus: Education for the Future – University of Potsdam) at the University of Potsdam on October 7 and 8. Dr. Patrick Paschke will present a paper on the significance of migration background on the acquisition of digital competencies in the context of various facets of young people’s socioeconomic backgrounds. Erik Grützner will present a study that uses ICILS data from Germany (2013, 2018, and 2023) to examine the extent to which schools can contribute to the development of young people’s digital competencies and self-efficacy—and thereby promote equitable digital participation—despite unfavorable socioeconomic conditions.
The participation of project staff in various academic conferences offers an important opportunity to present current research findings, gain new academic insights, and exchange ideas with other researchers. The “Youth in a Digital Society” conference at the University of Potsdam focuses in particular on issues surrounding the lives of young people in an increasingly digital society.
